Borobudur is the world's largest Buddhist monument and one of the great religious structures of the ancient world. Built in the 9th century under the Sailendra dynasty of Central Java, the temple consists of nine stacked terraces — six square, three circular — crowned by a central stupa, and is carved with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. UNESCO inscribed it as a World Heritage Site in 1991 under cultural criteria i, ii, and vi, recognising it as a masterpiece of Buddhist art and architecture and a unique testimony to Javanese civilisation.

No. The Sunrise, Sunset, and Sunrise + Sunset Pack experiences all include the full climb of every terrace up to the 9th level — the same physical access as the daytime Temple Structure ticket, just in golden-hour conditions. Only add a Temple Structure ticket if you specifically want to climb the monument during the daytime in addition to your golden-hour session, or if Sunrise and Sunset are sold out and you want a midday alternative.
Yes. As of July 2025, the Temple Structure is open every day of the week including Mondays. Operational hours are 08:00 to 16:00 WIB.
Yes — personal photography is welcome at Borobudur, both on the temple grounds and on the upper terraces. Drones are not permitted. Tripods and large telephoto lenses require prior authorisation.
Each ticket carries its own QR code, issued under your booking name; the same name across multiple tickets is fine. Foreign visitors should carry a passport as general travel best-practice. Bring photo ID on the day.

Yes, many international visitors do this independently. The two UNESCO sites are about 40 km apart (roughly 90 minutes by car), and most travellers in Yogyakarta hire a private driver for the day to cover both. We handle Borobudur tickets only. Borobudur stands about 40 kilometres north-west of central Yogyakarta on the Kedu Plain in Magelang Regency, Central Java. The simplest option from the city is a private car or Grab ride-hail, which takes roughly one hour door-to-door; many international visitors hire a private driver for the day to avoid hunting for a return ride at this rural site. Budget travellers can take a Trans Jogja bus to Jombor terminal, connect to a Magelang-route coach, then a short angkot or becak hop to the gate — about two hours each way. Two airports serve the temple: Adisutjipto (JOG), on Yogyakarta's eastern edge, lies around 30 kilometres away, roughly 75 minutes by car; Yogyakarta International (YIA, Kulon Progo), the main long-haul hub, sits about 50 kilometres away, near 90 minutes via the Trans-Java toll road. Magelang town is only 15 minutes from the temple. Car parking moved to a new area north-west of the complex in 2025, so allow extra walking time.
